I’ve always been a fan of vintage fishing rod brands and in the past, I have gone through the effort and expense of buying and painting a variety of fishing rods. I’ve also made quite a few of my own. I have a lot of my own vintage fishing rods and I have a lot of my own vintage fishing equipment.
There are a number of reasons to own vintage fishing rod brands. The biggest one is that they are pretty much the only real physical evidence of your own collection. When I first started buying vintage rod brands I was going through the same process of going through boxes of wood to find the exact match for the rod I would be using. But now I have a much better idea of what I like in my rods and I am able to save a ton of money over buying them from the flea market.
Vintage manufacturers also know that they don’t sell many new rods, so they make their own versions of old models so they can get them in the same color or pattern. If you are willing to pay a bit more for a brand you like, you will find that there are newer models of a variety of brands that are more expensive but still look as beautiful as the originals.
As it turns out, I like a lot of the vintage rods, but I am not in the market for them all at once. I have a dozen or so vintage rods in my collection, and I could see myself buying and using a lot of them. I just wish I could get my hands on some of the new models too. I would love to get my hands on some of these new rods.
