Nymph fishing flies are a great fly choice for the fly fishing enthusiast, because they have the added benefit of providing a little bit of fun in the water. Plus, they’re easy to fly and very lightweight.
I recently learned that the nymph fishing fly is often referred to as a “dragline” fly. Many people who fly fish have seen a fly that looks like a wire or rope stretched across the surface of the water. These flies are typically flown in a tight pattern with the tip pointing to the water. They usually don’t fly particularly well, but a good nymph comes in handy when a fly fishing rig is in need of a little extra help.
The nymph fishing fly has been around for years. Some fishermen use it as a bait to attract fish, some use it as a hook. But nymph fishing is usually done using one of the two most common methods: a dragline and a line. A dragline is essentially a small floatation device that is used to propel a fish. A line is a rod that is used to guide a fish into a desired location or to reel in the fish.
The dragline and line method of nymph fishing was created by the German engineer Hans de Mey, who used it to catch fish as early as the early 1900s. He used it to capture insects such as mosquitoes and hornets. He also used it to capture fish with their heads stuck out of the water.

What might be more interesting to note, is the manner in which Mey was able to pull off such a feat. He used a lot of different parts of the same rod (the same rod, actually) to catch fish, with each rod being used to pull the fish in different directions.
The same can be said for the new fishing fly design. The way the rod moves when the fly is pulled is similar to a hook set.
The line was important because it made it easier to catch fish; they didn’t have to be pulled all that far to the side to make them bite. The fishing fly is another new design of the reel itself; there is much shorter rod used to pull the fly in different directions.
